UPVC Fascias and Soffits Installers

Protect your home and make it look great with professionally installed fascias and soffits

Fascias, soffits and guttering perform two vital functions for a house. Firstly, they all play an important part in protecting a property and avoiding damage to the structure of the building. They do this by keeping out rain and damp which can cause considerable damage. Another way they protect a home is by keeping out pests that can enter through the roof and breed in the home.

Fascias and soffits also help to improve the overall appearance of a house by providing a finishing touch to the join between the outer wall and the roof of your property.

Want to find out more about fascias and soffits and how they benefit your home?

With our many years of knowledge installing fascias and talking to customers, we've put together some useful answers to frequently asked questions about fascia boards and soffits - and if you need further help, DK Roofing has many years’ experience installing UPVC fascias and soffits so feel free to get in touch with our fascia and soffits installers

What is a fascia?

Fascia boards help to seal your roof and protect it. The word ‘fascia’ is the architectural term for a vertical frieze or band of material under a roof edge. It is mounted at the point where the roof meets the outer walls of the house and is often called the roofline.

Fascias also cover fittings and help to hold the guttering of your property in place. The fascia board 'faces' you and is usually placed behind the guttering.

Having great-looking UPVC fascia boards installed by DK Roofing can really help to make the front of a house look tidy and smart.

What is a soffit?

A soffit sits horizontally under the fascia, facing the ground. It is the underside or horizontal band of material that connects with the vertical fascia board to the overhanging eaves of a roof. While soffits help to protect the home from unwanted elements such as pests, dirt and water, they also help make the roof area including the fascia look more elegant with a more ‘finished off’ appearance.

Soffits keep moisture away from the rafters which as a result, reduces the chance of mould, and helps preserve the life of the various materials used in the roof.

At DK Roofing, we provide a choice of fascias and soffits to suit your needs and that will look great on your property while protecting it from structural damage.

How does a soffit fit with a fascia board?

Soffits are tucked away under fascia boards and it’s usually the fascia board that you see from street level. As you get closer to the house, the soffits can be seen, appearing under the fascias.

Soffits can be ventilated to allow the flow of air into the roof area without letting in unwanted wildlife, such as birds or bats. Alternatively, ventilation can be provided over the top of the fascia board.

When should you replace fascias and soffits?

As soffits and fascias are used to protect your property, it’s important to have them replaced if they are damaged in any way. This will help protect the roof and surrounding walls from damp and water damage which can impact the structure and foundations of your property. Water ingress can also impact internal walls when decorating them as damp can be visible as well as having an impact on general health for anyone living there.

Fascias should be maintained regularly to protect them and to make sure they look great. In some circumstances, they might not be broken or damaged, but their appearance may have degraded significantly over the years - especially after a number of winters with heavy downpours and cold weather. At DK Roofing, we believe that a home should look amazing, and having new fascias and soffits can make a huge difference to the appearance of a house. If your fascias and soffits don’t need repairing, consider having them replaced anyway if they are looking old and worn out in appearance.

If you are looking to sell your property then having new fascias can add to the overall appearance of a property and make it more desirable.. and easier to sell! For additional help with possible water ingress, see info on our gutter cleaning services which can also help.

Are UPVC fascias better than wooden fascias?

Wooden fascias and soffits remain popular even though they have many drawbacks. Wooden fascias and soffits look smart when first installed but require a lot more maintenance such as staining or painting throughout their life and are prone to developing moss, algae or mould which may lead to rot if left untreated.

UPVC fascias and soffits, like wooden fascias and soffits, also look smart but they don’t require painting and are maintenance-free. So, if your property would suit UPVC fascias and soffits it would be financially more cost-effective than the wooden variety. Ask our fascia and soffits installers for details.

Can I have a wooden look with UPVC fascias?

Yes, you can! If you prefer the look of wood, then you may like to know that UPVC fascias and soffits are available in wood-effect too. This means that you can have fascias and soffits that fit in with your surroundings and look great, but without the worry and stress of having to maintain them every year. Ask our fascia and soffits installers for details.
